Embracing Sustainable Fashion: Switching to Natural Fibers

Imagine a world where it was inappropriate to not have your heart covered and the doctors ask you before you go into surgery to cover your heart what material do you want us to use for your covering? Would you choose plastic? Probably not.. why you want plastic inside of your body?

When people talk about micro-plastics I’m sure there aren’t many people out there excited to be hearing that they do already have plastic inside them. So why so we choose to have plastic covering our largest organ, our skin, on a daily basis?

This isn’t a topic I used to think much about, of course I always would prefer to buy something sustainable, but I wasn’t actively looking. I was more focused on the look and feel of a product. Fast forward to my spiritual awakening… now despite how much I might love some products (insert skims), I have chosen to not purchase from brands that aren’t taking social responsibility and putting the earth, their employees and their customers wellbeing first.

That being said, the most sustainable thing you can do is not buy more products so I will keep the products I have and cherish them until they need to be replaced. In the meantime I have done a lot of research around sustainable clothing options so if you do need to refresh your wardrobe you know where to start.

Types of Natural Fibres

1. Organic Cotton:

  • Benefits: Reduced environmental impact, better for farmers’ health, and softer and hypoallergenic for the wearer.

2. Hemp:

  • Benefits: High durability, requires less water and pesticides, and has natural antibacterial properties.

3. Linen:

  • Benefits: Breathable, biodegradable, and becomes softer with each wear.

4. Bamboo:

  • Benefits: Fast-growing, biodegradable, and has natural UV protection.

Why Switch to Natural Fibres?

1. Environmental Impact: Natural fibre are biodegradable and often have a lower environmental impact compared to synthetic alternatives. By choosing clothing made from natural fibers, you can contribute to reducing the fashion industry's carbon footprint.
2. Comfort and Breathability: Natural fibers are known for their breathability and comfort, making them ideal for everyday wear. They are gentle on the skin and provide better moisture absorption, making them suitable for various climates.
3. Health Benefits: The use of natural fibers reduces the exposure to synthetic chemicals often found in non-organic cotton and synthetic fabrics. This benefits both the wearers and the workers involved in the production process.

About the brand:
Pact Clothing takes pride in using organic cotton and other sustainable materials for their clothing. They also use eco friendly dyes to ensure their clothing is non-toxic.
They are also fair trade certified, which means that the workers involved in the production of the clothing are treated fairly and ethically.

They offer every type of clothing you could need in both mens and womens, and they even do a home line. Some of my favourite lines are the airplane line for the avid traveler’s, basics for your day to day, and the activewear, especially their skorts for going from day to yoga in a moments notice.
In a world where sustainable and ethical choices are increasingly important, Pact Clothing stands out as a brand that aligns with these values. Whether it's for your own comfort or to support sustainable practices, choosing Pact Clothing is a decision you can feel good about.
